National Consumers League Director of Health Policy, Jeanette Contreras, this week shared an important message to consumers – be particularly cautious while holiday shopping this year, especially when it comes to CBD.
“CBD is increasingly popular and is found in many different products – like gummies, chocolates, oils, even pet treats,” Contreras said. She reminded consumers that according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), CBD is not generally recognized as safe (GRAS) for use in human or animal food.
“As you buy gifts this season – especially for those with health conditions – remember: retail CBD products are not FDA approved,” Contreras explained.
